Disaster Recovery Integrated Resource (DRIR) Crew
• October 2026 to September 2027 | Lufkin, TX – NFGT Supervisor’s Office; Multiple Locations
• Member and Leader applications open for Fall 2026

Receive hands-on, paid training in multiple disciplines including recreation, fire, silviculture, timber, lands and minerals, heritage, visitor services, and administration within the U.S. Forest Service. Spend time working in pairs at an assigned forest or as a crew across the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas.

All participants receive guidance & support from the Forest Service & American Youthworks. This position is great for those pursuing careers in resource & land management!

Primary Location(s) for placement:
1) National Forests and Grasslands in Texas (NFGT): Supervisor’s Office, Lufkin, TX
OR
2) Davy Crockett NF, Kennard, TX; Sam Houston NF, New Waverly, TX; Angelina-Sabine National Forest, Zavalla, TX
Note: DRIR Crews will periodically be called on to work together as a group of 10 at one site based on project/forest service needs.

• $2,720 per month ($1,360 biweekly)
• End-of-Service Education Award

USFW Wichita Mountains Wildlife Monitoring Individual Placement
• March 2, 2026 – Nov. 6, 2026 (1200 hour) | U.S. Army Garrison at Ft. Sill (Lawton, OK)
• APPLICATIONS CLOSED

AmeriCorps Members will assist in wildlife conservation efforts through the ARTES (At Risk, Threatened, and Endangered Species) Program with the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and the U.S. Army Garrison – Ft. Sill. Participants will help monitor key species such as tricolored bat, monarch butterfly, black-capped vireo, northern bobwhite quail, and more! Other tasks may include habitat restoration, invasive species management, roadside wildlife surveys, and other field tasks.

• $600/week living allowance
• $225/week housing stipend
